Radiographic Determination of the Canine Elbow Joint Angle in Collimated Views

Abstract The mediolateral flexed, extended, or neutral elbow radiographic views are commonly used in clinical practice. However, there is currently no standardized methodology to accurately measure the joint angle images that include only and surrounding tissues. main aim of this work compare angles obtained from radiographs complete arm forearm dog, with measured including elbow. Ninety joints were 50 canine thoracic limbs, 39 <90º, 30 ?90 - ?120º 21 >120º. Radiographs centered on shoulder carpal joints. For each forelimb image, was using described previous studies. Then, digital cut obtain tissues, establishing a new set anatomical landmarks angles: lateral humeral epicondyle as an angular point, linking points being nutritional orifice radius at antebrachial interosseous space intersection point supracondylar crest cranial endosteum. There good agreement observed between two measurement methodologies. intraclass correlation coefficient statistically significant, lower limits 95% confidence interval (CI) >0.75, zero included standard error mean Bland-Altman test. This based anatomic next accurate may be for research purposes.
